Welcome to St. John
People matter to Jesus and so you will be welcomed here to experience an enthusiastic church family, centered in the transforming love of God in Christ's cross and resurrection.
Come with your struggles, doubts, fears, hurts, and messy past to share the power of God's mercy and forgiveness. We welcome all without exception, no matter where you are on life's journey.
We celebrate the new life we have in our Lord through Spirited worship, discipleship and growth, friendship, fellowship and fun, witness and serving.
We affirm the unchanging, historic truths of the Christian faith (including the Apostles' Creed and Nicene Creed as well as our UCC Statement of Faith), value the insights of the Protestant Reformers, and apply God's Word (the Good News of Jesus Christ) to the realities of our life and world today.
We are a congregation with a broad commitment to serve those in need in our community and world and actively support many human care and evangelistic ministry organizations.

Weekly Virtual Worship
Though providing some in-person services (for those who are not ill and are cautiously comfortable), we continue to be guided by CDC and state Phase 4 guidelines.
So we will continue to provide weekly video services online. Please keep connected to Christ and to his Word in worship by using these worship videos posted on Facebook, YouTube and this website.
INCLUDE YOUR FAMILY including children AND HELP OTHERS who may be more tech-challenged. Prevent folks from just drifting away from the Gospel message.
The church office is open part-time but you need to call to be admitted. Face coverings area requested. Watch our Facebook page for other information.
Please continue to maintain SOCIAL DISTANCE. Sanitize HANDS and PRAY for ALL. Please look out for neighbors, family members, church friends, the elderly and ASSIST them as you are able. Phone calls, cards, and running errands are all important and helpful.

This Sunday's Worship March 7, 2021

THE SUNDAYS IN LENT ORDINARILY ARE NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE 40 DAYS. And, under normal circumstances, our St. John Church family would gather for Wednesday evening Lenten worship, often with a series based on a theme. But Lent 2021 means no midweek services.
SO THIS YEAR OUR SUNDAY WORSHIP (MOSTLY ONLINE) AND ONLINE MEDITATIONS will be coordinated for this time of spiritual renewal and spiritual growth. The theme is COVENANT PROMISES, COVENANT PEOPLE as we rediscover the Good News with various (mostly) Old Testament figures.
ON THIS 3rd SUNDAY IN LENT, the COVENANT our LORD (and Biblical covenants are initiated and fulfilled by God--although we can certainly break them) made is with JACOB . Jacob had defrauded his brother Esau, fooled his father Isaac into receiving the blessing, and been forced to flee. Now he has been directed to return but he is anxious and fearful. During the night, a divine figure comes to Jacob, and Jacob, wrestling with him, refuses to let go unless he receives the blessing (of God)! He receives a new name -- ISRAEL -- "he wrestled with God" -- and proceeds to follow God's covenant plan, including reconciliation and prosperity. Because of Jesus, we also are bold enough to wrestle with God and to look to the LORD for his eternal and abundant blessing. Pr. Hugh's text for both our IN-PERSON SERVICES and the WORSHIP VIDEO is Genesis 32: 22-31.
Brief DAILY (MONDAY TO FRIDAY) ONLINE MEDITATIONS will be provided that connect with the Sunday message.
Be blessed as we share the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ who comes to us even today in his Word (and, when we can gather, in his Sacraments).
